Access Closure: Case #9

When the crown is still intact and in good shape the root canal access opening can be sealed and the crown can be reused. Modern access shape outlines should not overextend and weaken the peri-cervical area. These shapes do not conform to endodontic textbook teachings. These shapes are to be done by qualified microscope using endodontic specialist.

If and only if the doctor feels that sealing your crown can be done to protect your tooth without replacing your crown it may be done in our office by request of your general dentist. If the existing crown is not in excellent shape to prevent leakage into the new root canal your crown may have to be replaced.
